Kelly and I went to visit friends on the east coast for spring break. We traveled from San Diego to Washington DC, then middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania, then out to the big city of New York City.
Our trip was achieved by cashing in frequent flyer miles, which made it cheaper.
Our trip started in Washington, DC. My friend Jed picked me up late in the evening in Maryland, and the next day, Kelly flew in to meet us in DC — which was an interesting trip for her because she flew into another airport about 8 hours later. We hung out with Jed and family for the next day, but then met up with Kirsten and Jason and family as they came to holiday in Washington.
The next few days we spent sight seeing at the Smithsonian and sampling Washingtonian cuisine (junk food). I had only known Kelly a few months, but decided that I wanted to marry her, so I gave her a promise ring, which was a promise to eventually give her an engagement ring, which would then turn into a promise to give her a wedding band. So far so good!
We then left Washington, DC with the Deeds’s for Pennsylvania. This was a short road trip that lead us to their small town outside of Harrisburg. We had a bit of a break and went to visit Amish farms and ate tons of Amish Country cooking. Overall, it was a pretty rad trip to PA.
We left the slow comfort of PA for New York City, where we stayed at the Pod Hotel in Manhattan. Our trip to NYC was both romantic and educational. We had fun visiting the sites and doing a bit of shopping, and can’t wait to go back some day.
We left NYC feeling better about our relationship and our lives together.
Kelly and I made a book of our travels on the east coast in early 2009. The book can be purchased for $12.95 for the soft cover, or $24.95 for the ImageWrap hardcover (the $22.95 hardcover includes a dust jacket with extra stuff, so this is the better buy!).
